Who we are

Kind & Fern (“we”, “us”) is a small home rituals brand based in Hitchin, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK GDPR we are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@kindandfern.com or, less formally, on Instagram @kindandfern. For any formal data request, please use email so we have a written record.

What we collect

• The email address you give us when you join the Splash Edit mailing list.
• The date and time you signed up, and which page you signed up from.
• Basic technical data from our hosting provider (IP address, browser type, request logs) used to keep the site secure and working.
• If you accept analytics cookies: anonymised page view data and approximate country-level location, collected via Google Analytics.
• If you accept analytics cookies: the fact that you joined the mailing list (a “Lead” event, no personal details attached), collected via Meta Pixel so we can measure and improve our Facebook and Instagram ads.
• Feedback you submit via the feedback form, including ratings, comments, and your email address if you choose to provide it.
• The bath-time idea you pick from our inspiration generator, logged with the options you selected (no email required).

We don’t use any tracking beyond what is listed above, and nothing loads until you accept analytics cookies. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.

Why we use it & lawful basis

• Mailing list email - launch news, new themes, offers and playful bathtime ideas. Lawful basis: consent (you joined the mailing list on our website, where we tell you up front what you’ll get). If you came to us via a Facebook or Instagram lead form instead, we only send launch news unless you separately join the mailing list on our website. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any email or emailing us.
• Server logs - to keep the site secure and diagnose problems. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in running a safe website.

How long we keep it

• Mailing list sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.
• Server logs: roughly 30 days.

You can ask us to delete your data sooner - see your rights below.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your data. We use a small number of trusted processors who handle data on our behalf:

• Lovable Cloud (built on Supabase, hosted in the EU) - stores the mailing list database and serves the website.
• Google (Google Workspace) - hosts our hello@kindandfern.com inbox, so any email you send us is processed by Google on our behalf. Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. See Google’s privacy policy.
• Google (Google Analytics) - if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics processes anonymised visitor data on our behalf. Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
• Meta (Meta Pixel) - if you accept analytics cookies, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited processes visitor and mailing-list-signup data on our behalf, to help us understand and improve our Facebook and Instagram ads. See Meta’s privacy policy.
• Shopify - processes purchases and checkout. When you buy, Shopify handles payment and order data under its own terms.
• Omnisend - our email marketing platform. If you’re on our mailing list, your email address, signup source and marketing preferences are processed by Omnisend on our behalf. International transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, per Omnisend’s Data Processing Agreement.

International transfers

Most of our data is stored within the EU. Transfers from the UK to the EU are covered by the UK government’s adequacy regulations, so your data is treated with equivalent protection to staying in the UK. Our mailing list is also processed by Omnisend; transfers of this data outside the UK/EEA are covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, per Omnisend’s Data Processing Agreement.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Have inaccurate data corrected
• Ask us to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Restrict or object to our processing
• Receive your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time

To exercise any of these, email hello@kindandfern.com. We’ll respond within one month.

If you’re not happy with our response, you can complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies & tracking

We use a small number of cookies and local storage items to keep the site working and, if you agree, to understand which pages are popular. A cookie banner appears on your first visit so you can accept or reject analytics - reject is just as easy as accept, and you can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer or on our cookie information page.

• Essential - cart state, mailing list pop-up memory, and your consent preference. These are needed for the site to work and do not require opt-in.
• Analytics (opt-in) - if you accept, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised data about page views and visitor origin (country level). No analytics scripts load at all if you reject or do not choose.
• Advertising (opt-in) - if you accept, we use Meta Pixel to measure how well our Facebook and Instagram ads are working and to show ads to people likely to be interested in Kind & Fern. No Pixel scripts load at all if you reject or do not choose.

Our typefaces are self-hosted on our own servers, so no IP address is shared with a third-party font provider.

Children’s data

Our products are for families, but this website is addressed to parents and carers. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you think a child has signed up, please email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page when our processing changes - for example when we connect an email-sending provider. The “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the current version.
